Her work is deeply intertwined with the New Zealand landscape, focusing on themes of deforestation, habitat loss, and the preservation of native species. Patmore uses her practice to highlight human impact on the landscape and the plight of numerous endangered native species, including our insects ,birds, the long-tailed bat (Pekapeka tou roa) and long-finned eel.

In late 2023, Patmore shared her personal experiences of Cyclone Gabrielle, which devastated her home community of Karekare, through an oral history project with Auckland Libraries.
